I really don’t think you can compare both Watsons, BTW, or both Sherlock-Watson dynamics. They sort of work in their own, very different way.

That comic is just meant to be funny. The ‘fan art’ in which Lucy Liu is holding Benedict’s (note: not BBC Sherlock’s, but the actual actor’s) decapitated head is not so funny.

Until further proof, I still think this whole ridiculous ‘war’ is caused by Elementary fandom. I have not seen one single BBC Sherlock fan saying that JLM is an ugly bad actor who should be shot or that Elementary fandom should go and kill themselves. There is an enormous difference between not liking a series and pouring hate over actors and fans.

I think Elementary is quite promising, but its fandom really is the worst I’ve ever seen.

The difference between Sherlock fandom and Elementary fandom

(And for the record: I liked the Elementary pilot!)

BBC Sherlock fan: Yes, a female Watson could work, I like her! JLM does a real fine job. The plot should be a bit more clever, but I’m still interested and I will definitely watch this series although it is not as brilliantly written and visually stunning as BBC Sherlock. Also, I think the Beeb’s version stayed closer to ACD’s characters, and as a SH fan, I like that more. 

Elementary fan: STFU you ugly bitch benedick cumberslut is a ugly hors that cant act and martin freyman is a racisty mysognistwhatever and mofftit should be kiled and i wish all you sherlock fans would just go and kill yoursef and come on who cares about the books the books suck you ugly poshbitches. 

BBC Sherlock fan: Huh?

Seriously, Elementary fandom, you are not making a good first impression.

So what is wrong with “Even though it obviously won’t be as good as Sherlock, I’ll still be giving it a try”? I’m all willing to give it a try, I mean, it’s Sherlock Holmes, and it has Jonny Lee Miller an Lucy Liu, so it could be quite entertaining. I may like it and keep watching.

But yes, it obviously won’t be as good as Sherlock. Because 1. Elementary is made by people who want to make money, and BBC Sherlock is made by fan boys. And 2. BBC Sherlock has Benedict, and Elementary has Jonny. And Jonny is a pretty fine actor, absolutely. But Benedict… well, there’s no words to describe his acting abilities. So, obviously, Elementary can’t ever be as brilliant as BBC Sherlock is. But I will give it a try.
